Galactic rotation curve and dark matter according to gravitomagnetism

چکیده
Abstract Historically, the existence of dark matter has been postulated to resolve discrepancies between astrophysical observations and accepted theories gravity. In particular, measured rotation curve galaxies provided much experimental support concept. However, most used explain have restricted Newtonian potential framework, disregarding general relativistic corrections associated with mass currents. this paper it is shown that gravitomagnetic field produced by currents modifies galactic curve, notably at large distances. The coupling flux function results in a nonlinear differential equation relates velocity density. solution reproduces without recourse obscure components, as exemplified three characteristic cases. A bi-dimensional model developed allows estimate total mass, central density, overall shape galaxies, while fitting luminosity curves. effects attributed can be simply explained

Relativity Resolves Galactic Rotation Without Exotic Dark Matter
A galaxy is modeled as a stationary axially symmetric pressure-free fluid in general relativity. For the weak gravitational fields under consideration, the field equations and the equations of motion ultimately lead to one linear and one non-linear equation relating the angular velocity to the fluid density. It is shown that the rotation curves for the Milky Way, NGC 3031, NGC 3198 and NGC 7331...
متن کاملIs Galactic Dark Matter White ?
We calculate the expected white dwarf luminosity functions and discovery functions in photometric passbands, if these stellar remnants provide a substantial fraction of the sought Galactic dark matter, as suggested on various observational grounds. We demonstrate the extremely rapid variation of the photometic signature of halo white dwarfs with time and thus the powerful diagnostic of white dw...
متن کاملThe Galactic positron flux and dark matter
In this paper we calculate the Galactic positron flux from dark matter annihilation in the frame of supersymmetry, taking the enhancement of the flux by existence of dark matter substructures into account. The propagation of positrons in the Galactic magnetic field is solved in a realistic numerical model GALPROP. The secondary positron flux is recalculated in the GLAPROP model. The total posit...
متن کاملWhite dwarfs and Galactic dark matter
We discuss the recent discovery by Oppenheimer et al (2001) of old, cool white dwarf stars, which may be the first direct detection of Galactic halo dark matter. We argue here that the contribution of more mundane white dwarfs of the stellar halo and thick disk would contribute sufficiently to explain the new high velocity white dwarfs without invoking putative white dwarfs of the dark halo. Th...
متن کاملDark matter substructure and dwarf galactic satellites
A decade ago cosmological simulations of increasingly higher resolution were used to demonstrate that virialized regions of Cold Dark Matter (CDM) halos are filled with a multitude of dense, gravitationally-bound clumps. These dark matter subhalos are central regions of halos that survived strong gravitational tidal forces and dynamical friction during the hierarchical sequence of merging and a...
